  • Maritime Week- A celebration hosted by the City of Sturgeon Bay, U.S. Coast Guard, Maritime Museum and SBYC

    • Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club typically hosts the following for Maritime Week-

    • Mariner and USCG Person of the Year Awards Dinner

    • Sail Training Foundation, Sailing Demonstrations

    • Afternoon BBQ and Lawn Games for Coast Guard Families

    • Open House and Buffet sometimes with Fireworks

  • Kentucky Derby Party- Mock Horse Auction, Mint Julips, prizes for best attire!

  • Halloween Party-complete with spooky drinks and appetizers

  • Christmas Party

  • New Year’s Eve Celebration-Select menu, party hats and horns, great live entertainment

Sail Training Foundation (STF) and events

​

  • Youth and Adult Sail Training Classes: The core function of STF is to teach sailing to everyone in the community ages 8 and up the basics and offers progressively advanced instruction on racing rules and tactics, high-performance dinghies, and introduction to larger cruising vessels

  • Thursday Evening Racing: TGIT is a stalwart activity of the Club for the past 60 years. Originally, Club members raced the STF prams then this morphed into a Portsmouth Handicap scored race for “anyone with a boat capable of navigating the course” around the buoys in the inner bay. Yacht club members eligible  to race in STF boats

  • STF Chili Supper has a storied past, however, now this early spring fundraiser is an adjunct to the Irving J. Phreazemhitaile Memorial Regatta marking the start of sign-ups for STF classes

  • STF Classes End of Year Picnic, Regatta, and Awards. Held the last Friday of Sailing Lessons

  • October Awards Dinner - Annual SBYC Race Committee event to present trophies to winners of the TGIT race series, GBYA race winners and the two SBYC-sponsored “big boat” races - the Harry Purinton and the Green Island

  • Your membership allows you to visit other United States clubs. Your membership card and/or a letter of introduction is needed. You can call our office to request one

  • Dining privileges at Horseshoe Bay Golf Club. Reservations are required and you must pay with cash or with credit card

  • Golf discount at The Orchards Golf Club for SBYC members

Committee Participation

​

  • All SBYC members are invited to join a committee. These committees work to operate the Club and improve our members experiences. The committees are as follow - Finance, House, Marketing and Membership, Building and Grounds, Sail Training Foundation and Ambiance and Entertainment
