The Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club Sail Training Foundation, Inc. has been serving the needs of the Door County community since 1953. This was the inaugural year of sailing lessons offered to Sturgeon Bay youth. Harry Purinton taught classes from the current Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club site. Every summer since 1953, STF has taught children interested in the art of sailing and how to be safe on the waters of Green Bay and Lake Michigan.  
In 2023, Harry's Children founded the Harry Purinton Youth Sailing Fund to ensure that area children have access to the sailing lessons offered by the Sail Training Foundation at an affordable price. The goal is to allow all interested children the opportunity to take lessons, no matter their financial means.
